Why is CrossFit so effective?
Over 5 million people worldwide do CrossFit, and its continuing to grow – why? Because it works.
CrossFit is a proven methodology that makes people healthier and fitter. A lot of the fitness industry focuses on improving the way you look, with ‘fat burning’ cardio based classes and low calorie diet ‘challenges’ that are simply not healthy or sustainable. CrossFit focuses on improving your health and the way your body performs – and the results come from there (and yes you will look great too!). This means:
- Broad functional training to be stronger, fitter, faster. Increased muscle mass keeps you active, mobile and increases your metabolism.
- Fueling your body with the right food, and enough of it, to have energy throughout your day.
- Getting the right rest and recovery to enjoy other parts of your life.
- Connecting you to a community of like minded people on the same journey.
Do I need to be fit to start CrossFit?
You do not need to be fit to come to CrossFit – you come to CrossFit to get fit! No matter your age, fitness experience, or physical abilities, if you are looking to improve your health and fitness within a welcoming community of like-minded people, then we are here for you. All of our workouts have options for every level, and our coach will ensure you have the right option for your fitness goals. We also have complimentary Fundamentals sessions if you’d like to learn some of the fundamental movements before trying out a CrossFit class – contact us to book in for one at a time that suits you.
Where are you located?
We are in the Pine Harbour Marina at 190 Jack Lachlan Drive, Beachlands – the same building as Pepperjacks Bar & Cafe and Gulf Group Marine Brokers. Easy to access with plenty of free parking right outside.
What facilities do you have?
Our facilities include bathrooms with toilets and showers and space to change. We have cubbyholes to store your bags while attending class.
How long is each class?
Each class is 1 hour long, and includes a warmup, strength/skill, conditioning, cooldown/stretch.
What happens during a CrossFit class?
Our CrossFit classes are 1 hour group classes led by one of our CrossFit certified coaches. A typical class has the following components:
- Whiteboard brief – the coach will gather the class around the screen at the front of the class to talk through the movements for the day, the intended stimulus, and suggestions for scaling / modify options.
- Warm up – the coach will lead the class through a warm-up to prepare for the workout.
- Strength or Skill – the coach will lead the class through a strength or skills practice component, intended to help in developing technique, strength or skills in the particular movement of the day.
- Workout preparation – the coach explains the conditioning workout of the day, demonstrates the movements, and each person gets the equipment they need for the workout. The coach will lead the class through warm ups of movements if required, and ensure each person has the appropriate movement variation to suit them.
- Conditioning workout – the coach starts the clock and everyone does the workout together.
- Clean up & cooldown – everyone puts their equipment away and congratulates their fellow athletes/ Coach leads the class through a cooldown, while writing up everyones scores on the Whiteboard.
How many people in each class?
We limit each class to 12 people, ensuring there is space to move freely and allowing our coaches to spend sufficient time focused on each person throughout the class.
