Our CrossFit Little Kids program is designed for children aged 5 to 8 years old, and is all about movement, play, and confidence-building. These sessions focus on fun games, obstacle courses, and activities that teach foundational movement patterns like squatting, jumping, running, pushing and pulling. At this age, it’s all about keeping things active and enjoyable while helping little ones develop coordination, balance, and body awareness.
For our slightly older group—CrossFit Kids, aged 9 to 12 years old—the focus shifts to include more structured skill development and the introduction of basic strength and conditioning movements. These sessions are still packed with fun, but also start to introduce more technical skills, teamwork, and goal setting. It’s the perfect bridge between play-based fitness and more purposeful training.
A common question we get is: “Is CrossFit safe for kids?” The answer is a resounding yes, especially when classes are thoughtfully programmed and run by qualified coaches. Our Kids classes are led by Coach Holly, a Level 2 CrossFit Trainer, who brings not only experience but a genuine passion for helping kids move well and build a positive relationship with fitness. Our focus is always on quality of movement, not intensity. Every child is supported at their own level, ensuring safety and success at every step.
The benefits of strength and movement training for children go well beyond fitness. Research shows it improves motor skills, builds strong bones, supports mental health, and helps regulate emotions and energy levels. It even supports academic performance by improving focus, discipline, and cognitive function. Kids who move regularly are more likely to stay active into adulthood—so we’re not just building stronger kids, we’re building healthy futures.
When it comes to CrossFit Teens, designed for ages 12-16, the benefits are equally powerful—and often even more transformational. The teenage years are a golden window of physical development. As hormones ramp up, teens are primed to gain strength, build muscle, and improve cardiovascular fitness. Strength training at this age (done correctly and safely) can help build strong bones, protect joints, improve athletic performance, and reduce injury risk in sport and life.
But it’s not just about physical health—our Teens classes also foster resilience, focus, and self-belief. We see teens gain confidence in their bodies, learn to overcome challenges, and discover what they’re truly capable of. Whether they’re playing competitive sport, or just want to move and feel stronger, CrossFit gives them a safe and encouraging space to do it. We bring the same care and structure to Teens as we do to our adult CrossFit program—ensuring each session is expertly programmed to meet growing bodies where they’re at, with a focus on sound technique, gradual progression, and mindset development.
At CrossFit Affinity, we’re proud to be creating a space where young people can grow up with strength, confidence, and community. We believe that building a positive relationship with movement early in life creates a ripple effect that lasts for years to come.
